Has anyone tried to fit an MSD pickup (replacement part for 8485 distributor) inside a CB magnaspark? Does it just bolt right in? _________________ 74 Super

No, it won't directly fit.
JPaull and I talked this over a couple years ago.
He thought it would but when I measured the CB distributor. The mag pickup would not fit the CB threaded holes. _________________ I have learned over the years.

Are you wanting to convert to magnetic pickup or just looking for something other than CB. I asked because i saw a complete magnetic pickup billet distributor at Jegs for less than $100. I don't know if it's any good but I cant stop thinking about it. https://www.jegs.com/i/Speedmaster/746/PCE376.1149/10002/-1 |

If you order one, let me know if you actually get one that has the composite plastic base like MSD. Speedmaster has been advertising that msd look-alike but then shipping out a totally different distributor for years. The one they ship out has had a fixed drive dog a various other issues.
Safer bet would be:

Finally getting around to making the MSD style distributor work with a Holley Sniper for ECU timing control. _________________ 74 Super

You can fit an MSD pickup in an early magnaspark, the version with the 2 modules or separate "spark generator" I think it is
Anyway, it works. |
