|
|
Hello!
There's a Klassicfab 1956-1965 singlecab floor on ebay for a decent price - just wondering what the differences/what I'd need to do to use it to replace the flat sheet metal that was used to replace the floor in my 1967 single cab?
Or if I was going for a super cheap option - can the generic bus floors be used in a single cab? I'm guessing the cargo door area would need to be reworked to work with the treasure hatch, as well as the fuel tank area. |

Ok just my two cents here but replacing a front floor is a bit labor intensive, just save up if you need to and get the right floor. You will save a lot of time in the long run. _________________ Looking for anything from Hal Casey Motors out of Hamburg New York, from license plate surrounds to matchbooks.

I have a '65 and a '67 bus. I'm no expert on first hand replacement as both mine are original and rust free. But the only difference I can see is the '67 does not have the embossing for the hi-lo dip-switch and wires. |

Mr. Scratcher appears to be referring to the CARGO floor in the treasure chest; there is a specific truck floor for those as opposed to a kombi floor, or a camper floor.
I don't know which version my body shop used, but they were green! Had the depressions for installing seat brackets. I was NOT impressed with the shape and details of the gas-tank cutout, but everyone told me not to worry about it.
My t/c latch strikes needed some minor tweaks, but that's apparently par even if they were truck-specific floors.

Yeah missed that it was the cargo floor he was referring to, I mean come on they only have one floor right. LOL but my advice still stands. Try to get the correct part. _________________ Looking for anything from Hal Casey Motors out of Hamburg New York, from license plate surrounds to matchbooks.

There aren't different floors for trucks.
There are different floors for vehicles with cargo (or treasure chest) doors on the left, right or both sides, but they're the same for the trucks and full-bodied vehicles.
The difference with truck floors is that you need to cut the hole in the right hand floor pan for the fuel tank outlet within the large rectangular pressing, and add the striker plate panel for the TC door latch that is a separate piece for single cabs.
You also need to add the lower separator panel strip and center vertical divider that separate the fuel tank space from the rest of the treasure chest, but again, they're separate weld-on pieces, not different floor panels.
All the cargo floors have pressings for seat mounts.

Thanks - i based my statement on a Klassicfab price sheet from 2022, which listed different part numbers for different model floors.
I assumed there was no need to have so many catalog numbers if they wre the same. _________________ Craig K

Ahh. I'm going to guess they must have pre-cut or drilled them for convenience. _________________ Andy
