I'm running an 8v flooded(basically a golf cart batt.) in my 6V truck from Motive Energy- in Fullerton CA. Works great (so far)and gives me a few more V's without sending the reg into freak out mode. It's an experiment, and so far I've had to return one for not holding a charge over a long down period. It was about the same size and has the correct terminal location. Works with stock strap...sans cover. So far no negative effects... but I'm sure somone will say wtf are you doing!? lol.

I recently bought a nice little Nissan truck for the same price. Drove it home. Battery works fine, too. Came with jumper cables.

Been having issues with the optima red top one in the Dormy. So annoying that I finally went and bought a brand spanking new Interstate one. Was told that normally batteries last about 5 years. Turns out that the red top is over 7 years old. Confused

Seems like it worked perfectly. Try again in a year to see if the warranty is any good.

Things I like about the Antigravity Battery so far.

No more mysterious burns on my skin.
No more mysterious holes in my jeans or shirts.
No more gishy-gooey mung on terminals or battery cover.
No more craning to see and fill battery waters.
No more smashed finger or tweaked back.
There's probably more but for now those.

That's not a starter battery... nowhere near enough output current.

There is long history of using 8 volt batteries on 6 volt applications.
BUT, you need to adjust the voltage regulator up. Past 9 volt or 9.2 volts maybe.Quite likely there is more discussion of 8 volt on anotherr thread.
BTW, 8 volt seems like a great idea.
