I thought the rear window frame looked thinner. |

...but thankfully, windshield, wide vent windows, a hood crest and the lack of a dash grab handle tell the real one-year only story. _________________

Well here ya'll go, I didn't expect to take this much footage, but I got going and didn't want to stop!
It worked out to be 2 nice videos worth.
Come along for a "stream of consciousness" adventure of discovery as I walk around and document the outside and inside of this Beetle.
*Disclaimer* - I may confuse the trunk for the hood a few times, I'm sorry!
--------
PART 2 - In this video I do a walk around, showing the body and engine compartment, open the door for the first time in 20+ years, and find a surprise inside!
--------
Link
--------
PART 3 - In this part, I get the trunk open and look around as well as more interior investigating trying to get to the tunnel VIN.

Nice find!
The engine and the chassis number are from June 1960, one month before they changed to 40hp engine. Still keeps the two-years-only kick boards under the rear seats.
I would carefully inspect the car, fix all technical issues clean it out, install a new headliner, clean the seats and cardboards and drive it, having fun.
For all technical issues, I would recommend to download the workshop manual and follow its instructions. In addition, you get help here in the forum, as long as you post pictures That's why we are here.
Have a nice time and keep us posted! |

Well I guess I was wrong about the year.
That old girl doesn't look too bad as far as rust goes, but I can't imagine she smells too good inside with all the rat droppings up front.
Hose her down and let's see how she looks! |

Thank you for sharing....felt like I was right there with you! I think my favorite part was the dust/dirt cloud when you first opened the decklid! Love the 6v battery charger too _________________ '65 Sunroof Bug |

If you have a strong rodent piss odor after cleaning and rinsing everything out, go to Pet Smart and get Natures Miracle Urine Destroyer. Get a gallon and spray all of the interior metal. It will neutralize the smell. |

Love the black and red cars! You will discover that the 1960 had parts that are unique to the year and some that were '60/'61 only. I bought a 1960 convertible that had spent decades in a lean-to shed and looked to be in about the same condition. It took me some time, but I got it running and driving and had some fun with it.
I'm tuned in for more progress! _________________ -Kent (BaT "daleallen")

Nice score! Looks like it got some cool accessories on it. It in really good shape. It will clean up nice. Good luck with it |
Yeah, right off the bat I see a very nice accessory fuel level extension, and accessory hood springs. Very cool!
That big button Saphire radio is very cool as well. I would clean it up, remount it, and see if you can get it working.
Its making me cringe, lol, soak the hell out of those hinges so you dont spring the doors opening and closing them! _________________ WANTED: Henry Veale Santa Rosa plate frames
