Any experience with this??
What is the Volkswagen Certificate Update?
The Volkswagen Certificate Update offers you the opportunity to order a new copy of an already purchased Volkswagen certificate at a reduced price. This may be necessary, for example, if your name has changed in the meantime or even if the original certificate has been lost. In addition, you will benefit from continuous "model maintenance": the factory-fitted engine number has been shown on the Volkswagen certificate since 2024. For safety reasons, however, we may only list this if the original engine is still installed in your vehicle. To check, please simply give us the engine code letter and number of your classic car.
Note: The update can only be ordered for vehicles for which a Volkswagen certificate has already been issued since June 2019. The vehicle identification number (VIN) will be checked against our database for verification. _________________ Scott

Well I got back the Certificate Update. Nothing changed other than a firm no on the engine serial # I had wanted checked.
I am not sure what the benefit here is as the core VW info on the BC has not changed nor is there any indication how new research of any type is included. _________________ Scott

I had a cert that I ordered for my '57, which had the original engine in it, back in 2021. At that time, all they did was confirm that the engine was original. They did not print it anywhere, including the response letter, which they used to do.
I decided it was worth it to have the engine number printed on the certificate, so I purchased an updated one. It took about two weeks to arrive at my door and includes the printed engine number. There was no new info on the certificate other than that. _________________ 11/2/54 L227 Strato Silver Ragtop - Build Thread
