I'd like to see pictures of the damage . When our 010 went South, the Oil Pump seized from pieces of a failed needle bearing getting into it. The pump drive shaft snapped, but luckily no damage to the Torque Converter.
I bought an aftermarket pump shaft from a supplier out in California, who's rebuilding VW transmissions . He had new shafts made as an upgrade of sorts.
As for getting a rebuilt or good used Torque Converter, they ARE hard to find now. I ended up buying a complete salvage Automatic transaxle just to get the TC out of it. Ended up using both the Final Drive and TC, things have worked out great with both parts, but what we all think is a plentiful thing in terms of parts availability because so many VWs and Audis came with this transmission, is now like so many other older car parts, a scarce part.
Time marches on.
My garage looks like a hoarder on a small scale. Various Automatic Sections, stacked onto another 1.9 engine, next to our old Final Drive, with another torn down 1.9 in the basement on a shelf. _________________ '68 Westy- my first VW and vehicle/Bus- long gone.- sold it to a traveling Swiss couple....

Shipping would be expensive probably since it's here and not in the UK, but these parts should work for you.

Hello and thank you all very much for the link, info and replies.
Using the link/part numbers I located a rod. Apparently T25s had same length, 003 not so. Hopefully the pn is right for my 010 "If it is the oil pump shaft 090 323 561"
Scammers had a go too... I had someone approach me to sell me a TC for a 003 from a forum post but it was all vague, didn't feel right so I said no go, the 003 stall speed wrong, then they came back saying they had a 090 too. No name, address was office space. :-/
The gearbox guy (John Walklett) knew 2 TC rebuilders, I called them and yes its a fair wedge but it'll be taken apart, fixed and some warranty and will 110% go straight back in. Might all be back in just over a week.
So just got to wait. Fixed and no super bad problem. Gearbox and final drive will have been checked and TC rebuilt as good as new.
The chance of the spline losing its teeth on the TC are tiny so I expect the bits will outlive me now.
In the meantime I have replaced some oil seals on the engine and will fit a new water pump I was lucky to find new. I have a new earth cable (to make a earth strap) for the gearbox.

for what it is worth, I suspect these are more rare than we really do imagine. I recalled that my late parents had a 010 in a VW back in 1980 that went bad. They could not find a rebuildable core on the East Coast or in the South. I found only one in LA where I worked and lived at the time, picked it up, and shipped it back to Florida to be rebuilt and installed. As I recall, when the original TC failed, it contaminated and overheated the whole transmission making it non-rebuildable. _________________ "Most people don't know what they're doing, and a lot of them are really good at it." - George Carlin |

Sorry to hear about the Scammers- that happened to me as well when I placed a Want To Buy Ad here on Samba for a used Torque Converter back when I was looking far and wide for a decent core. Who knows, maybe the same person...
Anyway, good to hear you're able to move forward- keep us updated with your progress... _________________ '68 Westy- my first VW and vehicle/Bus- long gone.- sold it to a traveling Swiss couple....
