|

Hi, I've searched here in the forums, and also on the internet. I'm looking for the interior wood panels for my 1971 Westfalia. The panels on the driver's side are delaminating or missing, and the panel on the slider door is literally falling apart, every time that door is closed a chunk falls off.
I'd prefer to purchase the panels in a kit, with the laminate already on them in the correct shade. I've found a little info on this here in the forums, but it's dated, the newest infor was 8 years old. So I'm wodering if anyone knows a source for those interior panels. They are Baltic Birch, yes? I've contacted The Bus Depot in Pensylvania, they carry kits but it's for a later year 1976 - 1979 bus.

They do sell the baltic birch panels in the right color (hopefully) that I need, so I could use those if I can't find a kit.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! This is pretty much the last thing I have to do to my Westy to complete it, other than install the stereo and the windshield fluid squirter bottle, then I'm done! (hopefully ) |

"Someone" on here was selling complete Westfalia interior kits in the past 4-5-6 years. For both Splits and Bays. Perhaps on the east coast? Florida? _________________ Larry in OB

Sadly my search did not come up with anything. Others on here are much more adept at searching than I am, maybe they can help? _________________ Larry in OB

I made mine. I used paneling from Home Depot and put polyurethane on them. 6 years later, they are still in excellent shape.
This photo is from 2019, during my build.

Early Original panels are 1/8” birch plywood, no laminate
My set came with a finish on one side, but was missing a couple piece's. I bought the same birch plywood from the local Windsor plywood and applied a couple coats of general finishes flat varnish on both sides to seal it up.
I covered some of the side/ door panels in 1/8” closed cell foam and vinyl so it is a little more quiet.
Cabinets are all custom, so I used white laminate so it’s nice and bright
