anyone know where to get the electrical connector that is a push on for the fuel pump? It is designed to slide over a stud rather than a blade.

60's/70's Ford products used a push on round terminal on the starter solenoid studs (as well as other places), maybe a vintage Mustang supplier?

thanks Mark. I remember seeing those on starter solenoids, senders, and gauges. Drawing blanks trying to find one.

Thanks Tom.

Maybe can use a female bullet connector. Will have to decide tomorrow. Was trying to avoid a ring terminal but that may be the easiest solution at this point.

you can get those female, and male, bullet connectors at ACE or flaps.
They will be the "hardware store" crimp style.

So, does your fuel pump have simple 2-3mm threaded studs sticking out with a couple of thin nuts on them?

If so then the absolute most correct connectors to use are in order:

1. a crimp on ring terminal on each wire with small washer between nut and terminal so it does not twist as you tighten it down.

2. The tab that Dodger Tom showed you but in the proper size and usually with a 90° angle in it if necessary.

These two are the best because the linkage to fuel pumps should be tight and anti-vibration. The pumps pull a few amps too so all of this has a little heat at times. The looser the electrical connection, the more chance for corrosion growth and high resistance.

But....if you do have the threaded studs on your fuel pump, by chance are these the type of connectors you are looking for?

They have to be gotten in the right thread diameter size to fit tight. They are not as good as the two options above but their claim to fame is that they rotate on the thread to make it easy to move the wires around.

Hi Ray. Yes, except the bus uses the same rubber part as the horn, however the horn has a spade lug.

Thank Willin - I will check that out. Have to measure the post. A standard bullet connector is 4mm. Bosch does make a 5mm bullet female also.

Actually, bullet connectors are very poor connectors for this type of joint unless they are a radially sprung type bullet connector and not just a standard bent/shaped one.
The radial spring type bullet connector is a rare part. I have only seen them in a few places (mostly industrial electronic).

Really the best connection ofr something like a fuel pump is a ring terminal.

Just closing this out. Pulled the boot off and there was nothing in it but a wire and discolored rubber. Turns out that the connector that broke off was a spade connector that just looked like a bullet connector - except on close inspection there was nothing but rubber there. Just like the horn, same setup. Good to go. Adding a new more flexible wire and connector then done. Painted a white stripe on a red wire to it matches.
