I carry a can of Fix-A-Flat.

So do I, in my 1971 Convertible. Mine has aftermarket mag wheels I purchased in late 1970s, and my spare is a stock VW wheel, so I carry stock lug bolts as well, as the mag wheels use special lug bolts. And the mag wheel lug bolts use a different wrench than the stock lug bolts, so I carry that too.

I carry the stock jack and a small bottle jack. My 1970 sedan has stock wheels and stock spare so nothing special there.

Mimosasix, I must apologize to you for my response on where to place the jack for a front tire flat. My response was for a standard beetle not a super beetle. hopefully one of the super beetle owners will respond to this point. Regards Bob

There are some threads with information on jack points for a super beetle. The outer end of the napoleon hat where the body bolts on are what I use from the side for a one wheel lift. From the front on my 72 for a two wheel lift I use the center of the brace for the control arm bolts. 73 and onward might not have that center brace so perhaps the crux of the control arm bolt to the frame head. I don't like using a jack on the control arms because they move at an angle and the jack slides.

There are lots of options on the back, just like any standard beetle, and a search of "jack point" in the title, in this section of the Samba, will provide good threads to learn about where, and where not, to jack up these cars.

I do carry a Porsche 928 scissor jack. It will fit under the lowered front, folds very small and is made of aluminum so it's very light.

Neato. On its way from Ebay. Is there any issue or hack to be considered with the shape of the top of the jack? Thanks Glenn

Honestly, I never needed to use it. I did test it once to make sure it works.

I looked at the funky Super jack and ended up buying one of the Porche 928 ones. Issue resolved. Now to get a spare that's not 30 years old...

Not particularly thrilled with the lack of stability that comes with bottle jacks. Even if a lifting saddle ( https://www.amazon.com/Adapter-Lifting-Platform-Ex...Y&th=1 ) is added, the jack's footprint is very small and it wouldn't take much of a slope or jostling while removing/mounting a tire for it to tip over. Same instability concern applies to Bilstien jacks and to a slightly lesser degree, scissor jacks. To simplify and speed up the task of mounting a tire on a VW (and do so more safely) it's a good idea to use a pair of wheel hanger alignment pins. https://www.amazon.com/Steel-Wheel-Hanger-Alignmen...M&th=1

The trolley jack is cumbersome and heavy by comparison, but a more stable platform for lifting and really the best choice to have on board if on a trip ... especially if you are faced with the unpleasant task of dealing with a broken clutch cable in the field.

Never put any of your body under the car unless it's on jackstands and good ones.
