Ummm…galvanized, I guess? Borrowed from CrookedDesigner:

What color is yours now? Are you restoring to showroom stock? Just curious.

Ours appears to be galvanized covered with black undercoat.

I don't think it's galvanized.
Galvanizing is kind've a soft fragile coating, that would get badly chipped and gouged in it's location...
I think it's a high iron content stainless.

Mine appears to be bare metal. Not sure what it looked like new, but I don't think it was coated to be a specific color.

Same. Although half of it has disappeared at this point.

Sand blast it and then spray on bed liner.

Nice work on the cleanup!

Put a smiley face on it so the van is smiling at you whenever you're under the van.

I'm surprised that nobody responded to my message in the other thread, but doesn't this seem like a reasonable idea for getting more space under there?

My 185/75r14 fit, but this 195/75r14 is too wide. If I take the top bars of there's lot of room, but I don't really want the tire bouncing around, so putting them back in (in new holes) should relieve some pressure... Has anyone tried this?
