Nothing fancy, no Lithium. Just a plain-old good service battery that fits in the regular under-the-back-seat location.
AGM preferred. Thanks.

Group size 96r fits nicely. I don’t know which brand is best but make sure to cover the positive terminal. 96r batteries have slots to snap in a cover over the positive terminal but not all of them come with one.

An AGM is unnecessary for an old bug; a regular flooded lead is sufficient IMO. And, yeah, a group 96 or 42.

I've had an Advanced Auto group 96 Silver in my '73 Super daily driver since March '20. Car still starts on the first click of the ignition, no issues in cold or hot weather.
