Stripped brand new POS regulator on driver side of my '65. Had just installed new felts and regulator and when cranking window up last inch was quite tight. So a little pressure to lift the window and also a bit of force on the crank.... nope! Stripped.

Now the question--Since window is up and can't crank down, what is best removal method? Can I get the glass out if I unbolt the regulator assembly while the glass is attached to rail and pull it down far as possible---- or is it easier to first cut off and remove visible part of regulator?
Regulator is just trash, spending time and money for negative results , just to do it over.

unbolt the window from the regulator assembly, the regulator can be removed then, the window may then fall down, so be ready to catch it from dropping

That's the problem, can't reach bolts holding glass as window is up.Cant crank it down. Before I try and remove regulator by unbolting and pulling down my concern is to not break glass, naturally . So im just looking to get glass out and the regulator, as far as new regulator is now trash I can cut it in half.

If the mechanism is stripped you might be able to pull or push the window down.

You maybe able to unbolt the mechanism and get it to move some so into as reach the glass retaining bolts, or failing these, cut the mechanism

If you decide to cut, and use a cut off wheel, be aware that the cut off wheel caused red hot debris to fling about. this can pit the glass badly, and of course also pit paintwork and upholstery.
