I searched - honest!
On my '57 deluxe the number '150' is stamped on top of the driver's bottom side seat support. I don't have my chassis number handy to compare.
What is this number?

VW engineer's were so clever all those years ago that they anticipated the gradual fattening of society 50 years onwards!

Actually, it was delivered to Berlin.
So this really is a number for weight? |

See if the number matches your sunroof header bow....both of your buses should be early enough to have a 3 piece header how. _________________ Transporter Restorations

The kilogram is a measure of mass (an inertial property, independent of gravity), not weight (a measure of susceptibility to gravitational force) _________________ Pritchin'

Winner winner chicken dinner - I finally got around to taking the sunroof assembly apart. Also, what I thought was a random dent in the top header piece was actually a single digit stamped from the underside. This part is 3 pieces welded together, and the outer 2 pieces are stamped "7" and the middle is stamped "1"

Thom, thanks for getting back with data ten years later! I wish more people would have done that over the decades (hint: still time). I am impressed you remembered this thread that long. _________________ Craig K
