67 beetle. I’m working on the wipers and I removed the arm assembly and the switch. I need to replace the nozzle on the cowl and the hose running to it. I made the mistake of pulling off both hoses without noting which port is for the pressurized washer fluid and which port goes to the nozzle.

You’d think I would learn that I need to make notes because I don’t remember stuff like I used to!

Let’s call them the “front” and “back” ports, where front means front of the car. On mine, the front one is labeled B and the back one is labeled D. That way I won’t misunderstand your directions! Thanks again.

Do you mean the tee piece with the valve inside? Then P =Pump but you might see that as a B. S= tank ie the washer bottle and D= the nozzles in the bodywork.

No I’m talking about the switch itself. There are two ports on it, one for the incoming hose, and one for the hose going to the nozzle. I think the B port is for incoming from the reservoir, and D should go to the nozzle. But I’m not sure.

Parts book illustrations are not always right and I've never liked that page. The pneumatic system is the same 62-67 vs late 60s, and the hose connections should be the same, but the diagrams show it both ways.

Okay, now, The valve on the switch is labelled B and D. We've talked about this before and those are quite likely abbreviations, B for behälter (container) D for düse (jet).

If you look at this photo in the service manual where the hose to the jet was unhooked in conjunction with removing the wiper motor, but the one to the washer bottle is still in place, it sure looks to me like the pressure line is on the one furthest from the dashboard.

You want the pressure from the bottle going to close the valve, you want it pushing against the dashboard, you are overcoming that pressure to let fluid through, and the background pressure helps keep the valve closed.

30+ years ago the only new German switch I could find was for a 1967, so that's what I have in my 62 Bug and this is how I have it hooked up:
