'm attempting to put in a transaxle from a 1958 bug into my 1960 ghia but the front transaxle frame bolts are further apart then the 58 bug. 'I'll post some pictures

It´s not a good idea.
The model 1960 has a one year only version of trans, nose cone, shift forks.
Well, it´s not impossible to fit a 58 trans in a 60 ghia or beetle, but you need plenty of parts and have to split the trans.
Much better is to go for a 60 trans. (stay original!)

Thanks, that's what I needed to know. So a 1960 Ghia transaxle is a one year only? or will pre-60 Ghia transaxles work?

The only thing you need to do is the replace the nose cone mount. Since the body is off, cut it off and weld on a 58 mount. The 58 trans should slide right in. Here is a thread all about it... https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=621790

A hack job is allways possible, if someone wants to do so.
Maybe replace the whole pan and go for ball joint or IRS pan.
For a reversible "bolt-on-solution" you need either a model 1960 only Beetle or Ghia trans, or a hours of labor and a lot of parts to upgrade a pre 8´59 semi synchro trans to fit a 1960 model.
