Hello folks,
I have a 2003 Eurovan MV with 201K miles.
I'm getting two mystifying Engine faults:
2 Faults Found:
17987 - Throttle Actuator (J338)
P1579 - 35-10 - Adaptation Not Started - Intermittent
17978 - Engine Start Blocked by Immobilizer
P1570 - 35-10 - - Intermittent
I had it at the shop recently and they neglected to reinstall my engine compartment battery cover. We had heavy rain last night. The top of the battery had some water on it, which might have caused a short/disconnection somewhere(?). The van runs fine and I'm not getting any readiness errors. There are no CELs on the dashboard.
So, I thought I'd run a Throttle Body Adaptation...
Via Rosstech VCDS I did the following:
01 Engine
04 Basic settings
Group 098 "Go!"
undocumented
I have the KW1281 Control Module, but I am unable to find and run adaptation on the Throttle Body. Do I have the wrong Group Number?
For reference, this is the Video I followed

I got the immobilizer error after I ran a non-drive-cycle readiness reset. I'm 100% ready for inspection, but if I clear the intermittent DCTs (for Throttle Body and Immobilizer), I'll reset readiness and not be able to get it inspected in NYC.
Does anyone have thoughts on these errors? Are they related. Should I go through the whole readiness routine again or just let it sit? (I'm going on a long road trip and don't want to get stranded, if possible).
Thanks,
Dan

I too have had trouble getting the the Throttle adaptation to run.
There are two ways to do it using VCDS
Method 1 - Basic Settings
01 Engine
04 Basic Settings
Group 098 Go!
Method 2 - Guided Readiness Scripts
See https://www.ross-tech.com/vcds/tour/readiness.php
01 Engine
15 Readiness
Set Readiness
On my 2000 Eurovan, I could not get Method 1 to work, but I was able to get it working using the Readiness scripts.
I know the 1997-2000 and 2001-2003 models are quite different, but it's worth a try. _________________ 2000 Eurovan Camper (Winnebago)

FWIW you should hear the throttle actuator cycle during the adaptation. It takes it time sometimes. _________________ If it ain't broke, don't fix it! |
