This picture reminds me of the Confederate ship Merrimack, one of the first iron clad ships. _________________ Larry in OB

1987? Century riviera 6 meter. Bought this back in 2000. This pic was when it was actually floating. Sold it after 2 years. Haven't bought another one

I'm guessing there's more to the story here?, like the best day of boat ownership is the day you sell it? _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

Best day is the first and last day of ownership. My first and last boat. To be fair, I had no idea what I was doing and I was learning as I went. We did have fun with it, but with all the money and work I put into it, it just wasn't worth it. _________________ 63 T1 Ragtop Gulf Blue

Saw dude with the electric VW bus with the blue board on the water today. He used to own a 71 Bug! He lays on his blue board and paddles with his hands, no other paddle he was heading back from a six mile paddle, is 71 years old, but looks a lot younger _________________ Sorry About That Chief.

Here is a Lettmann Kayak I have owned it for about 35 years, bought it second hand, it was built in the early 1970s I have many thousands of miles on it, 3500 miles in the last 12 months.
It is a slalom design Hyperform K1 by Lettmann, who is somewhat famous for his boats, it is fiber glass, and 14'4" long, it just fits diagonally in the Vanagon, clearing the windshield by a few inches.
A small aluminum skegg has been added with duct tape to improve tracking, even with the skegg it can still spin around in its own length.
I have had it in rapids, smooth glass water, surfed some big ole waves in the ocean at Halfmoon bay, nearly been run over by full grown grey whales twice, and even have gone out in gale warnings out on the Bay, me the only one around.
Here is a link to Lettmann he was some legend in the yak world...
