Hate starting another thread but the thread under "Paint & Body" was not getting any attention.

Anyone have additional information on 12V coil stickers for pre 67 buses?
I linked below all the threads i found on the topic. The variables seem to be:

Blue vs Yellow.
Oval vs square.
Placement above or below clamp.

On the last option it only comes up because the "22 mile 64 bug" has it's 6v sticker blow the clamp where most others seem to be above.

Don't want to link to an ad here.

There is an ad in the classified for a blue round sticker 12v short coil. The owner is very clear in that his observation is that pre-67 may be yellow and after that blue. Don't flame him as he clearly states this as an observation.

Looking thru my Bentley did not solidify anything for me.

Any other info available? (i did search and read every thread on coil stickers)

Owned a fair number of NOS coils over the years. The yellow 6 or 12 volt stickers came first. Since there are yellow 12 volt stickers their use continued past 1967. These observations based upon the date codes on the coils. The blue stickers would have come out sometime in the 1970’s. The squared off stickers were an even later revision. The location of the sticker is more fluid. I’ve seen actual coils and pictures of the sticker being above and below the clamp.

I used to have a wider and deeper selection. Most of them have been moved on to others. On the left are two screw terminal 6volt coils both TE6 B1. One dated June 1958 and the other April, 1959. Note the oval yellow stickers are below the clamp when mounted. The two on the right are NOS still in the box but with shelf wear. They are 6 volt, 311 905 105’s with date stamps of January and May of 1966. Note that the yellow oval stickers are above the bracket when mounted.

I still have two screamer kit blue Bosch coils. They are dated March, 1975 and January 1977. Note the stickers on them.

Somewhere I learned that coils with a blue oval stickers came first were destined for type III.

These are the only ones I have left with original stickers.

Here's some info from a classified ad for a short coil w/ the blue sticker including some original brochure photos for type 1, 2 and 3 showing short blue coils:

https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=2542706

"Blue vs yellow sticker: In the late 60's it seems like bosch for the most part used yellow for 6V and blue for 12V coils. Later than 67, you should probably have a blue. 67 or earlier they might have been yellow. This is just an observation. Old literature can lie as it was common to re-use old photos. Many coils have also been fitted with the 12V yellow aftermarket sticker, making it almost belived how they "should look". Last photos are from sales brochure for baywindow model year 68 (Aug 1967) and model year 68 beetle engine."

Frederick is a truly knowledgeable guy. I can’t recall seeing a blue stickered coil on early or mid 1960’s engines.
