Welcome back again! Yes, definitely recommend getting yourself a more modern car as a “daily driver”, to begin with. Then purchase a ACVW bug as a “hobby car”, at least initially. If you find you enjoy the “hobby” of working on and restoring your bug, then in time it will likely morph into more and more of a dependable “daily driver” for you as well. That’s how it’s worked out for me over time, anyway.
Here’s wishing you good luck on your ACVW “journey”! _________________ 1971 Standard Beetle — fairly stock / driver

Thank you! I hope you’ve been doing well!
Still getting the hang of how things work here on TheSamba but I’m getting there slowly. Lots of valuable information here too! And some of the best people I’ve had the pleasure of interacting with on the internet.
My Aircooled dream is still alive (as of July 17th 2025) and to stick with Volkswagen I’ve been looking at a modern beetle as a temporary daily driver. Or perhaps a Jetta, maybe a golf.
I’m hardcore Volkswagen, Aircooled classics and modern day lol. That being said I can appreciate something like a pickup truck (Dodge Ram etc,) but isn’t it wonderful Volkswagen thought of that, and made a pickup Bus _________________ “They make ten thousand cars, they make them exactly the same way, and one or two of 'em turn out to be something special.
