Meanwhile I saw sweet corn selling for $1.58 an ear the other day, while less than 5 years ago I was able to buy a dozen ears of sweet corn for only $1/dozen in several places as I traveled across country.

These tariffs are killing us. 30% from Iowa

Laughing

Funny! I used to joke with my neighbor when I lived in Des Moines that I moved to Iowa because I heard it had the best "porn" in the country.....imagine my surprise when it turned out to be.....

Just so everyone knows....the vast majority of corn grown for ethanol is not really edible. It's a different, engineered corn type. It's very si.ilar to what old school people like my grandparents called "horse corn".

But....to Wildthings point....yes. cost of EDIBLE corn is up in places because far too many farms have switched to growing corn for ethanol which is not food.

That, and a lot of corn farmland has been snapped up by investors to grow other crops and for export crops.

if you mean the foreign ones designed to keep us from selling our products overseas I agree with you. Last time I checked, tariffs here are nothing new and a part of why the VW bus is what it is. Look up Chicken Tax "Mr. Abscate, aka the punster" Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Smile

Oh, ouch, stop it, ouch the pieces of tariff are hitting me, ouch, oh it hurts like being hit by confetti at a parade ouch ouch.

Really sorry the OP has the problems with his carbs that he does. No one should have to go thru that and shame on J-Bugs for not taking ownership of the problem with their supplier.

Way back when pickup trucks were cheaper than the typical American sedan, the chicken tax changed that though and there is no way the Big Three want the chicken tax to disappear.

I emailed Jbugs (with photos) and asked for a refund/exchange and some smartass named Sam sent back, "Id est quod id est" ...It is what it is. So fuck those guys. I'll buy from Heritage.

I appreciate the info(all of you guys).

I would email EMPI directly, they keep harping on that they are now improving their quality, and even branching into Porsche parts.

See if they stand behind it, or they are just flapping their gums trying to get sales up
Those carbs are straight up garbage

I second the suggestion to contact EMPI directly. That looks like a processing problem, EMPI says they are serious about good quality, see if they will take care of it. EMPI helped me on a problem I had on a new EMPI 34-PICT-3 carb last year and I was pleased with their support.

I avoid Jbugs because I found their customer service is mediocre to lousy. There are many other suppliers with good service.
