Victron Blue Smart 12V 15A shore power charger, Victron 100Ah LiFePo battery. How long should the various phases take? I know the bulk charge phase will vary based on percent charge. But what about Absorbtion and Recovery?
I put it on charge at 7.5A Thursday night, it reached 100% Friday morning (6:00am) and switched to absorbtion charge. It's now 6:00pm Friday evening and it's still on absorbtion. Victron app reports 14.4 V at 0.1 A. Is this normal? |

Of course there are many variables that affect how long a charge cycle takes. You might get a feel looking here: https://www.victronenergy.com/media/pg/Blue_Smart_...1063495212
For my setup, absorption is very short because I rely on a 'Tail current' setting and I have disabled float. So, my charge time is almost all bulk. Also, I try and wait until my battery is at a low state of charge before I start a charge cycle.
If you really want to get into the nitty gritty of how to properly charge a LFP battery this is a good resource: https://nordkyndesign.com/charging-marine-lithium-battery-banks/. You could jump to the end Approximating the Solution and see his final thoughts. _________________ 2003 Westfalia Weekender, AXK, 01P |
