Any opinions on a quality seal? I bought a complete kit & I'm not impressed. The rear window seal is so bad, I can see light in the corners and it doesn't fill the space on the outside. |

Buy any and all Vewib brand seals you can. They're usually listed as "German" seals and are significantly more expensive than other brands. Vewib bought all of the original VW seal molds that they could get their hands on, and make their seals from those molds. If the brand is unlisted, contact the retailer and ask them if the "German" seal they are selling is made by Vewib. They don't make every seal for the car, but the ones they make are better than anything else out there.
I would stay away from weather seal kits. Jbugs and some others sell these, and they're usually their cheapest seals, and often don't actually have all the seals you need. _________________ Currently own:

Do you have a link to anyone that sells them now? I could use some for my 71 Ghia. |

I got my Vewib front and rear windshield seals from CIP1 several years ago. It's listed on their site as "OE German" windshield seal. It doesn't claim Vewib as the manufacturer in the listing though. It lists it as "CIP1 5 star", which isn't a real brand. I think it's what they use as a generic label, likely for legal reasons that we're not privy to. I would contact them before you pull the trigger to confirm it's still Vewib. _________________ Currently own:

Thanks all. I bought the cip german seals but they don't fit. No matter what I do they will not install. The windshield is new, the rear is original. When i measure, the seal is too thick. Has anyone else had this problem? |

Not sure what you mean that they're too thick. Pics would be helpful to see what's going on. My Vewib seals fit perfectly

The seals are Viewib from Cip1. I had a professional installer try and it's a no-go. It's like the windows are too big. Obviously I cant trim the glass. and I have no idea how to trim the seals. We tried without the metal trim and the groove for the metal strips closes completely, they will still not install. The windshield is new, the rear is original and there was no metal work required in the window channels. I'm stumped. Maybe I'll try the M&T seals. These are not the first windows I've installed so it's not that. |

I may be mistaken. I'll have to call Cip1. I know the website showed the viewib logo, or I would not have ordered them but now they're just listed as the 5 star. |

Pretty sure they've always been listed as "Cip1 5 star". That's what they were listed as when I bought mine about 4 years ago.
What year is your car, and what is the height in the center of both your front and rear windshields? _________________ Currently own:
