David Freiberger confirms on social media post that veteran driver Chris Raschke of the Speed Demon Racing team has lost his life.
Racing on Day 2 of the 2025 Bonneville Speed Week was halted after the violent crash.
The team’s new Streamliner, Speed Demon III, driven by Raschke, 60, was making a preliminary pass down Bonneville’s Course No. 1 at some 300 mph when it went airborne around the 2.5 mile mark. |

Chris was a member of those few people that have traveled 400+ mph on land. Things turned really bad for him at the 2.5 mile mark. I was a spectator at the 4 mile mark and witnessed this horrific crash through my binoculars.

Sorry you witnessed Chris' tragic accident.
He will be missed by the Salt Flats Racing Community.
