Glad to see you found the wires that were causing the issue. I think that issue would drive anyone bonkers. You will never forget it. Dipping those in liquid black tape might not be a long term fix but cutting the ends off was a good idea. If the liquid tape comes off you might put some closed end crimp cap connectors on them.

Replaced the front calipers and bled the front brakes today. The old ones had at least 41k miles and I could see uneven wear of the pads. At least one piston appeared frozen. These were already on the car when I bought it back in '18, so who knows how old/used they really were.
