What is the amount of play ideal at the pedal?

Thanks in advance.

I check the amount of play at the clutch arm under the car. I adjust it so the throwout bearing is just barely not touching as you can feel it moving the clutch arm with your hand. Then the petal is correct.

What about a clutch cable issue here? Suggest to check and replace the cable.
Check and compare also how many mm the clutch arm on trans moves, when clutch pedal is engaged - not engaged.
I´m sure, you have positivly installed a complete and original 914 clutch and not a more flat and cheaper 215 mm VW clutch with individual drilled up holes from 7 mm to 8 mm on pressure plate.
