I know I will catch hell for this question but do V-Dub parts work on a 356 chassis, easier to find is the reason I am asking. I'm going to build a street racer with a full blown dry sump race engine and most likely a Bus transmission with quality Weddle gears.

I do not know exactly details, but if I remember right, John Jones rebuilt a very nice outlaw 356 using VW parts. Might still be on Kustom Coach Werks website.
Best of luck! _________________ Current projects:

It seems, your cars are a 57 to 59 356 A T2 and a T6 or C.
Front:
Beetle spindels till 7´65 and a beetle steering box is not impossible, but not good for a 356 A, B, C.
I suggest to go with 356 A, B spindels for drum brakes from mid 58 onwards with solid 25 mm inner bearings, instead of 20 mm only.
For that kind of spindels, there are even vented disc brakes available.
I also prefer the 356 T2 onwards steering box and rods.
356 A, B, C trailing arms are basically beetle, but a bracket for stabi is welded on und there is a outer bushing for bearing pressed on.
As far as I know, VW beetle torsion bars till 7´65 can be used.
Rear:
The 356 A used VW torsion bars 626 mm x 24 mm, the same as in beetle 10´52 till 7´59.
Spring plates: basically also beetle, but refined.
The combination of torsion bars, spring plates, 4 rubbers and cover it´s about.
Think about, if you want to use a compensator spring, or not.
Trans:
Here the affixing points and the rear bracket, as well as the shift rod, shifting is the challenge, if you don´t use a matching 356 trans.
Swing axle: only short drive shafts fit a original 356 body.
On samba, there is at least one thread about using a beetle trans in a 356. Find it.
