poked at the cab a bit. found the body number. 46779. thats feb 1953 for anyone keeping track.
started the process of cleaning the cab itself up. just water and a rag in these pics.

| Will you have a similar strategy as with your Beetle? Preservation rather than restoration? |

i dont really know. dreaming about different options is pretty fun.
turn it into a cherrypicker? a snow plow? do something like the baja off-road barndoor truck? art car? zip ties and bondo? who knows.
whenever the perfectionist in me gets annoyed by my approach to the bug i tell myself i can always do a full factory restore to the truck. its a handy mental crutch.
im keeping my eye out for the parts it needs. i dont really need to decide anythening yet. there are a lot more parts to pick up before this gets built. _________________ november 1952 ragtop

I’m all caught up now on your Beetle and Singie cab. It’s nearly 2 years since your last post in this thread. Any progress to report?
Yours in anticipation, Dave |

thanks for thinking of us! no progress to report. there are a couple reasons.
im pretty focused on the bug with my car time. there are a lot of things i need to do now that it moves (routine maintenance, fixing my poor workmanship, and 70 year old parts that havent moved in 40 sometimes break) and a lot of things i want to do (car shows, drives, pictures and picnics).
i wasnt really prepared mentally, or financially for the beetle or a motorcar hobby in general. i just kinda fell into this experience. spent a bunch of money and 4 years in the garage. im going to spend some time enjoying the outdoors and reflect on the experience for a bit.
the truck is safely stored. we named her Merryweather. here is a picture from earlier this year:
