What did Rometsch do for the chassis spine in their cars? Did they cut the original spine and add a section in, or was there a special chassis/floorpan available from VW to build these taxis? _________________ 1976 Beetle 1200L |

They stretched roof, chassis and everything else with extra sections.
Fuel tube, gas wire, electrical wires clutch cable ... everything had to be longer. A lot of work you do not see. _________________ Master of my domain! |

^^ that period photo shows the drawback of the beetle taxi - where to put the luggage. _________________ "we're here on Earth to fart around" kurt vonnegut

may not be so bad. normally 4-5 people had to carry all their luggage to go on vacation. In a cab, at least the driver does not bring luggage. so it may be better than a stock beetle use case. It is a bigger car after all. _________________ regards

Hopefully you'll be posting more "as found" photos and images of the restoration process? _________________ My Beetles :
