So my 356 has its "correct" engine (not matching numbers) but I want to keep it as it is and not ruin it so I have a ready build type 1 engine. It has porsche style cooling so needs a remote oil cooler.
What is the best place to mount a remote cooler? I have seen a couple of kits but nothing that looks right? |

| They sell 36hp style fan shrouds with a dog house oil cooler which would be your best bet but they also sell a thin sump that bolts to the oil strainer and it ads extra oil capacity and sits in the air stream to aid in cooling. |

| 911 style fan shroud, OK so do you have room to mount a cooler to the underside of the engine compartment hood grill? |

Ruin it how... by using it?
I hope you moth balled it correctly or you'll have problems with the valve springs and the seals will dry up. _________________ Glenn

Boots are made for walking...
You have full flow? Thermostat?
But if money makes or plays no rolex, you can think about an adapted original 356 Carrera-style oil cooling system, including dry sump.
Side question: how do or did you connect the 356 throttle rod system with your carbs? Pics? |

quite simply, I will use both engines and wearing out the Type 1 is a lot cheaper than wearing out a 356 engine!
Thanks for the tips on mothballing. I don't really mothball, I will put on my engine running stand and run the engine weekly |

So I already figured the throttle would be a problem so I have a spare throttle pivit that I can convert to turn the rod action into a cable action and run to the throttle linkage.
Got thermostat and full flow |
