Hi everyone,
I’m planning to install the Vintage Air Slimline Heat/Cool/Defrost under-dash evaporator in my 1967 Karmann Ghia coupe and would appreciate some advice on fitment before placing the order.
Here are the unit’s dimensions: Width: 26.66 in, Height: 8.27 in, Depth: 11.36 in
I intend to mount it under the dash, slightly toward the passenger side.
Has anyone here tried this model—or something similar—and can confirm whether it fits comfortably under a Ghia dash (especially regarding width and height)?
Any quick feedback on clearance or general compatibility would be really helpful before I go ahead with the purchase.
Thanks in advance!
(Mods, please feel free to move this thread to the Accessories / Heating & A/C section if it fits better there) |

The vintage AC units that were available through VW dealers and other suppliers were at least as big as the one your looking at.
I would think it should fit just fine.
Do a search in the Ghia forums for "Air Conditioning"
It returns 21 matches
Welcome to The Samba!
Let us know how the unit works out. |
