that makes no sense from an as-cast head that's optimized for a certain valve size, IE the panchito. They do a wonderful job for what they are designed for, and it sounds like these new PDP heads are no different. Optimized for an as-cast *higher performance* 40x35.5 street head.

for larger port volume and bigger valves, a different CNC option on a different casting would be logical.

as-cast options are what keep prices down and cooling ability up. Check the cost and cooling difference between panchitos and CNC lines.

not to mention as-cast manifolds, which Pat is planning to offer for these heads as well!
You are exactly correct. I’m coming out with a head that performs better than what has currently been offered that is easy for me to assemble and sell. The less man hours I put into a set of heads the cheaper I can sell them. I’m a one man shop, gotta think smart, put out a quality product and keep this industry going forward.

I think this is going to be a fantastic all-around hipo street head.
Too many people have the "bigger is better" philosophy. I've done the big valves in welded stock casting, Comp Eliminator-type and stock ported heads in a number of different engines, all used primarily on the street as I'm not a racer.

I guess with age and experience comes just a little bit of wisdom, as my last motor which has Panchito 40x35.5 valves, is the best, all-around street motor I've ever had, Period.

A 40 mm intake valve, in the right type of head (maybe not an ACVW) can support 200+ HP. I didn't used to be a believer in high-port velocity, just "more flow must be better" but with higher port velocity, you get better combustion mixture, lower risk of detonation (better swirl), more responsive bottom end and consequently more torque and better overall flexibility of the motor.

For most of us, who I take it are looking for the best street combination, these heads should be a substantial advantage over current offerings and certainly "large enough" to provide more than enough performance.

You don't need 44-46 mm intake valves, 48, 51 or 58 mm IDAs and huge exhaust systems for most street applications. Smaller can be better, try it!

Exactly.....Really great street engines need to focus on lots of low and mid-range torque. Torque is made with high airspeed, not huge CFM numbers above the max valve lift.

Small but very efficient ports, correct size valve for the displacement and rpm, and a good cam with a correct duration for the power band will make an amazing driver. Smaller is usually better.

It's not on Pat's website but he does have both a 44x37 and a 42x37 CNC head. If you search his IG you will find some data on them.

I was kind of hoping for the answer here so I'm not sluething social media. I'll chalk this up as these heads aren't what I'm looking for.

If that price point is accurate he'll be selling a ton of them!
