Not that I'm aware of. On a type 3 you'd have to add some thickness to the rubber bushing that hold the beam in place. VW only added thickness to the later beam bushings in the mid 60's, and then used the "later style" bushings from then on. The big problem is that caster on a type 3 is built into the frame head that the beam mounts to. I hope this helps. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

I haven't had mine apart yet, but you couldn't slip a 1/4" piece of steel plate between the rubber and the frame head? _________________ CH³NO²

I haven't tried it, but I do know the bolts might be too short to bolt it all back together again. My car has had the front lowered 2 inner splines since 2006, and I've driven it quite a few miles out on the highway like from eastern Michigan to western Missouri (Joplin) and back. That's a 16 hour cruise straight thru. I haven't really noticed a need for it, but then I've probably got used it how it drives now. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Thanks for the reply. When I get under there, I will report back with what I find. Even if I could alter the wheelbase 1/4" it would be worth it. In my bug it's night and day. _________________ CH³NO²

I've never needed them, if it's dropped front and back it shouldn't be bad, but if you're nose down... yeah. You can start with your ball joints, they are eccentric.
Here's what some people are doing to get additional clearance. I would do this and add a shim, compensate with a longer new "strap" for lack of a better word.

Also, this is for a type 34.
Erik, thanks for that. I believe that is the 'shaved bolt' trick. I saw that on youtube.
I plan on just 1 spline in back, and maybe 2 or 3 in front. Nothing drastic. I also will be doing the math to see if I can fit BRM's. I plan on short axles in the rear, and a CPS disc brake setup in front. (wide 5) If there is a fit problem, I can use Gasburners. They are offset all the way inboard. _________________ CH³NO²
