I put the tan synthetic carpet kit from Wolfsburg West in the 66 Java Green a few years ago, my other 66 Java Green has the original Oatmeal square weave. It is close enough to the eye for me, the synthetic tan is a little rougher to the touch.
Here is the synthetic:
And the original Oatmeal square weave.

| Not that it matters, but those originals don’t look like original carpets to me, they look like really old aftermarket synthetic loop…? |

| I had the same thought at first glance the carpet over the heater channel seemed to have too large of a loop for original square weave. |

Take a small thread and take a match to it. You'll soon see if it is synthetic or wool. _________________ 1968 1500 RHD Lotus White Beetle since birth. In the hospital for major surgery

If you take single stage, you could ask temple studio, if they already have a formula for lotus white.
What I did was having the rims sandblasted and powder coated in gloss black and have first painted the inner portion and after drying the outer. I masked with flexible tape.
I had not an exact match to the colours, but for me it was enough. |
Thank you for the tip. The last time I checked, Temple had shut down and was no longer doing paint matches!! Bummer. _________________ Robert in Memphis

I drove the beetle to work at the airport tonight, and man what a night I picked! Earlier today I wiped all the windows inside and out with windex and did a quickie clean on the wiper blade edges anticipating some rain. Boy am I glad I did! We have a slow moving front dropping a good amount of rain over the area. Even with clean windows and a fancy rain coating on the glass, those wipers were about as helpful as vaseline on a squeegee. It was terrible!
But the car ran great. She was due a mini fall tuneup today, bumping the idle up half a turn and resetting the choke. She made good heat, enough to turn it down while driving!
However. I did notice on a slick, sharp curve on the Memphis surface roads, I had what felt like some heavy understeer... it felt as if the front of the car didn't want to come over in the direction I was steering, and I was hesitant to let the throttle up and induce some other issues. Although toe in is right, I think my overall geometry is off, front and rear. It could really use a pro alignment shop to really get everything zeroed out. _________________ Robert in Memphis

Indeed, congratulations! I also have enjoyed following your progress. I’ve learned a lot from this thread, and have kind of shaped the goals for my 67 based on what you’ve done with yours. _________________ Project vehicles:
