What the story on these headlights? I purchased a set of these at last Sunday's Drag Day in Irwindale and want to know more about them.

There are 2 styles with different logos as you mentioned.

I don't know the origins of the 2 different styles but all I would care about would be getting a matching pair of either.

The pair I got at last weekends Drag Day not only had both the Hella & VW logos, but the Chrome rings also had HELLA enscribed just above the mounting screw tab. Good thing I grabbed them. Couldn't believe they were still 4-sale late in the day

Just a guess but maybe the ones with just Hella and no VW are Porsche, as I know some people that have got them them off those cars as well.

Here's some pics of one I got from ebay. Fluted lens with hella on the bottom, and VW logo at the top. Has the large bulb, and a smaller one. Sorry for the pics, I haven't taken it apart to clean it up yet.

Looking for another one if someone has one like it.

Those aren't the headlights in this discussion. Your headlights are pretty common as 99% of restored 1952-57 cars have them.

Are you looking to buy a few more sets? I've got a few pairs that I'm willing to get rid of.

Not really. Fluted lenses are pretty easy to find if/when you need them. I buy fluted VW-logo's lenses (both Bosch & hella) all the time for $30-$50/singles & $50-$100/pr
These lenses are alot harder to find. They are clear with just an oval outlinel in the center.

Don't worry about it, the lenses are worth only $300/ea. It's the special style bucket that cost the big $$$. Wink

Cool, I didn't get the nifty buckets, just some of the later style. I think someone else at Wilson's got those..... Evil or Very Mad
