Humor me.
outside of cost. What is needed to be done to convert a 1966 coupe to a vert? Acually It will be a permmanant convert.
I know that you would need to strenthin the windsheild. But How? I don't want to buy a vert front clip.
Do you need to support the pan? Or the sides?
Thanks _________________ 66 Ghia (German Look) Under construction |

dont quote me, im sure keifernet can explain it better but im sure there is quite a bit to it although I have seen it done before. The key is reinforcement of the body. I almost bought a 59 ghia convertible once until I found out it was a phoney. It had all the right parts from another 59 vert added but it just didnt seem right for me at the time. _________________ GFK

No offense, but this topic has been discussed in great detail in "other" KG Forums. Please refer to this thread for some interesting reading on a "convertible conversion"...........

It has been covered in this forum as well.... suffice to say that the cars are NOT that rare that you could not go out and find the real thing to start with... IMHO ( and many others) it can be done... yeah sure.. but why? and at what expense? Just to say you did it, or becuas you have a coup[e to begin with... sell it and use the $$$ to find a real one.
There are still secent deals out there on Ghia vert projects that would bve alot better canidates for resto/resurrection your enjoyment as a project.
And you woun't end up with a car like the one SuperSkim describes in his post. |
