Is it true that I can lower the rear of my Bus simply by swapping in type 3 axles? Or is there more to it than that? Thanks. |

I believe you also have to change the transmission and have modified spring plates. I am in the process of raising my bus back up and this was what was done to lower mine. The transmission is a Type 1 with swing axles. Hope this helps. I've also heard that it may be easier using parts from a Thing. Check more of this forum lower down there's more info. |

the thing lowering kit is cool. you can actually lower your bus or keep it at stock ride height, or anywhere in between. the idea with this kit is to eliminate the red. boxes and keep stock ride height. you end up having to drop it a little b/c the cv joints start clicking which will wear them out. i have that set up on a bus. the bus cruises at 70 w/ plenty of pedal left. thing trannys have 2 extra teeth. drawback is the price. unless you have a good wreck to get it out of it'll cost big bucks. if you do this you need everything out of a things rear end. tranny right out to the drums. keep every nut and bolt. you can always throw them away later. |
