| I've saved my money for the past 3-1/2 years to give myself a 35th birthday present to myself... a convertible beetle. I would like a '67 (yr I was born). What are the pro's and con's of a '67 convertible? Also, I have close to $8000 to spend, is it enough for a quality car I won't have to do a lot of work to unless I want to? Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

Some of the body parts are one year only, the deck lid is a key part. If I remember the dual master cylinder might be unique. The window cranks were imposible to find unless there now being reproduced. Bumper overrider had a unique bend and the door handlels (round button?) that I belive both started on some Euro 66's 1500's through 67'. I'm sure there are more 67' unique parts. Best to talk to someone who has done a restore even for a sedan.
Then there's the added cost of convertable parts in general. |

If you are looking for a rust free California 67 vert, check out our raffle car for 2003! Granted it is a long way off but we are really excited to have located such a good car for next year.
You can see pics of the car and this years raffle car at

| I had a 67, unfortunately not convertable. I drove it 8+ years reliably. I replaced the heads after about 60,000 miles that I put on it and replaced trans. I drove it 4 years popping out of 4th gear. It was the best car I ever owned. I had to sell it because I moved across the country. In my opinion 67 is the best year made. |
