Well, I already did some research on a wiring harness for the T3, and am not sure what the best wiring harness kit out there is. I have a 1966 Fastback and I need to redo the wiring because mine is frayed, cut, and mickey moused beyond being fixed. ANy input on what harness anyone prefers would help me out alot, and I' am up for the challenge of installing harness.

-Thanks.

I would go with the stock style replacement from ISP WEST

Depends on the body style. If the harness runs along side the drivers seat under the carpet, it is not too bad. On some of the early ones, and the T-34's, the harness runs through a conduit in the rocker panel.
Anytime you pull it through a hole or a panel, tie a strong cord onto it to pull the new one back in.

I did mine in a weekend on my 65. The harness runs through rocker and I had to remove both the front and rear fender, but that gave me oppertunities to do other stuff under there at the same time. Its not hard at all, and you can pull some of your own wiring through with it for accessories later on (tach, other guages, etc)

The only real issue I had on the '65 was the old OG harness going thru the conduit. It was stuck...I mean stuck. I put a small rod down and pulled out a bunch of sand/dirt. Mad We were finally forced to use a 5' long, bladed drill bit on a rechargeable drill. In-out-in-out...slowly until we broke past the blockage and were able to pull the remaining harness out of the back. By my estimate we got about 5-6 tablespoons of crap out of the tube. Shocked But the new harness went in like butter. Pulled about 6 extra wires thru with it. Some are to be used; two extra are just in case...

Speaking of butter, Get some wire pulling compound at your local electrical supply store. It will help greatly in pulling thru the tight places.
Don't just use oil or grease, and that can deteriorate the wires.

The only drawback to the new harnesses available is that they are for carbed cars. This means they don't have the couple of extra wires in them needed for the FI to run. Shocked Just something to think about.

I obviously don't do fuel injection, but can't you just add the required wires when pulling the new harness thru? Confused Tram? Russ? Think

I am assuming so. All the wires do is transmit voltage where/when voltages is supposed to be transmitted right? Do any of you have a diagram for what wires need to be added? George? Russ? Confused

Yeah, you could just pull the needed wires through with the new harness. Power wires from the relay under the rear seat, and the wires that go from the ECU to the fuel pump relay up front. There may be others that I am not thinking about.

I installed a new wire harness a few months ago and it went pretty smooth. I had to remove the left front/rear fenders of coarse but I failed to run extra cables for "other electrical stuff"...tach/temp/etc.

Is there a tube in the right passenger rocker panel as well for other cables?

I realise that the rear fender must be removed, but is there any change changing the wiring loom without removing the front fender?

it has to come out of the cabin, then down, and back in the channel, not much chance of doing that with the fender on.
