first time acvw owner- 69 square back. i've been goin through the muir book, following the tune up section to get my new car on the road. it starts up real nice, but PO said it had been sitting a few years. any way, here's a question... if the empi synchrometer i ordered didn't come with instructions,(thanks cip1.com?!) then am i still to follow the same procedure that's in the book, or is there a different way to do it with the synch i got? ( the muir book uses a uni-synch). i'm not a total mechanical idiot, and i'd like to accomplish this on my own, without having to rely on having someone do it for me. proud of myself for the valve adjustment, but i hear synching the carbs is a frustrating task, so any tips would be appreciated- thanks!

The procedure is the same it's how you place the sync on top of the carbs that's different. (I have the unisync- because of the bolt sticking up through the middle of the carb I put a metal tomato paste can on top of the carbs and then sit the sync on top of that.) Remember that the sync only measures air flow so the tool can be different but the procedure is the same.
Anybody out there with the empi style that can shed some further light

By the way, it would help to know if these were stock carbs or after market

I use a piece of 1 1/2" PVC pipe to space it up off the carb. Take the rubber o'ring around the top of the carb with you to the hardware store. You will need about a 4" long piece.
