Howdy,
I was gonna stick this in the Ghia Forum...but since Bugs had them also I figured I might have more luck getting an answer here.
My question is this.
Is there a PARK on a 71 Ghia Autostick?
What i mean is when I turn the car off I can put the shifter in any gear....but the car still rolls as if it is in nuetral.
I can shut it off in gear with the same result.
So I didnt know if I was having a vacume issue or if this is the way it should be.
Otherwise the car shifts fine when running and in reverse with no problems.
I think I might be in the minority when I say I actually like my Auto Stick.
Except for this park issue.
Gotta always make sure my Emergency Brake is up to snuff.
Thanks Much,
Kevin |

Kevin,
I think the later model autosticks had a park feature but not the 71. My wife's car is 70 Ghia autostick. Never any problems in the past year and 8,000 miles we've owned it. Yea, you have to have a good parking brake. We park on an inclined driveway so I always make sure her brakes are well adjusted. |
