I own a 74 beetle and want to buy a fiberglass dune buggy body for it. What stays, what goes, where do I start, and how do I get the old body off. Does any of this depend on the kit I buy. Probably the enos, cobra, (Fiber jet ind) or the empi body. Should I get the new one before I start taking off the old one. I'm so lost any help is greatly appreciated. Question I would like to make it as simple as possible and loose a lot of weight. Thanks

vic's right, a super beetle won't work. supers have something called "macpherson strut front suspension". a beam style front end is necessary for a glass buggy.

bascily take the old beetle body off and and all the electrical. most of the stuff in a beetle you do not use in a fiberglass buggy. i would drop the engine it would make it a lot easier to work on the buggy but you dont have to. pull the gas tank and sending unit out of the beetle. Make sure you pull the battery wires out of the beetle before you try to remove the body.
