Looks like a sperrwolf copy? what am I looking at?

When I went to Germany last month I picked up a shifter lock from a friend of mine there. It was on his 57 Beetle when he bought it but he changed to an aftermarket shifter and couldn't use the lock with it. OK. I bought it from him for 50E, (about $60), took it home, and put it on my bug. But then I started wondering. It looks just like a sperrwolf except for the chrome ring around where the key goes. Instead there's just a plate that covers the key and swings out of the way. On the top of the plate is the word "Komax" in cursive. Am I looking at a repro? Something different. I didn't know there was a company reproducing these.

Would that I could. No digital camera. It's old, I can tell you that. And it looks exactly like a sperrwolf shifter lock. The only difference is I don't see any names or emblems on it and there is no chrome on it. The only word I can find on it is Komax in cursive on the little cover that swings out of the way so you can put the key in. I know this came off a 57 Beetle a friend of mine in Germany is fixing up. I did a search of Komax shifter and Komax lock on the web but all I found was one pick of a steering wheel lock off a split in Germany. I'm guessing that it's an aftermarket copy but like I said in the last post, I didn't know anyone ever made repros of sperrwolfs I'll try to get a friend to loan me a digital camera and if I'm successful I'll post pics then.
