Can't tell...
.....until I find out if the rear veiw mirror and window is worth anything. Guess it's a man pride thing.
I mean if I paid over what it's worth ...then you know what that does to a guy that has broadcast it on the net.
Guess I'll have to list them at a crazy high price to find out......

So after all that beep, you're going to part the car out? |
Yeah,
I change my mind a lot. So guess I need a straight jacket....
I think it best to part it out. That's what you wanted wasn't it??
Besides, I like 58's and 59's better.
Have I asked this question yet? What's the rearveiw mirror worth?
Do I have to trade parts for that info?
 |
I didn't want the car parted out, but it is the best choice.
You like 58's and 59's better? You must be off your rocker.
Post pictures of the mirror if you want to know what its worth. _________________ Kevin "Wiggy"

there were less than 5,000 54 convertibles built and probably no more than 25 in the U.S.
In my eyes there really isn't anything to part out on that vert except for the rear view mirror and rear glass if there any good
As per sheet metal on the car there really isn't anything decent on that vert to salvage to help save another car that a hardtop 54 bug couldn't do that you could readily find more available and for cheaper
so sell the body to someone and let them at least try to fix that bucket of vintage vw history ANYTHING IS FIXABLE _________________ **WANTED** ONE 4 1/2 EARLY FUCH |

Yep, I am selling to Sam, however some parts I am keeping to sell to make it worth my fooling with.
I have to load the car on my trailer and get it to my house where Sam will pick it up.
Yes, a neat car can come out of this, but I don't feel like doing it. I had a blood clot and am on Coumadin. I feel like what the car looks like.
Hope ya'll the best in bug hunting!!
Yeah, the rear window is real nice (not the metal frame though)its rusty , however the rear mirror needs restoration.... The shades are cracked, aluminum parts are slightly oxidized, and the mirror inside is peeling.
I have one semaphore which needs restoration,
Like I said, I wanted to fix this car, but I have no energy. |

slowlow, I'm cutting up a parts car, 58 or 59, but a lot of this may be usable to you. I'm in Cali but if you can figure a way, we can work something out. I already took the doors and I'm about to take the heater channels out, and of course the windshield. some of the metal may be easy enough to throw in a box

sam, if you get it i got that 65 bug that you can come and cut anything you want off of. If you could even use metal from a big window bug. The channels are pretty rusty. But its free just give me a call if you need any metal parts off of it. _________________ 1964 Beetle

Both of those are worth fixing, The 54 vert is a rare beast and the prices they fetch are amazing. My 57 vert is in about the same shape and I have been collecting for years to cut it all apart and re-assembly the whole car starting this year. That 54 with a solid donor hard top is a wonderful project, the only thing better than a 57 vert is a 54 ribber baby!!
The later convert would make a nice baja! |
