Complete body lift or tapered body lift to just raise rear. Converting to IRS, might be easier if the parts are readily available. |

re-index your rear torsion bars, would look good with a bit of a rake IMO. by raising the rear alittle you will push the front /rear bias forward. should give you a better front brake and a bit harder steering. I don`t think it will be enough to notice though _________________ Mid America Funfest, Effingham Illinois

Yeller- Tapered lift was What I was thinking. How bad will the taller tires effect the overall speed and power in fourth gear?
Ratho- Really did not want to mess with suspension because of camber effect.
Any ideas to make a tapered lift?
I have tried a 1" wooden block for reference and it would allow proper tire clearance about 2". Gap naturally goes from 1" down to nothing. My idea would be to use composite decking material. Idea used per someone
on another forum.
From the motor that was in it, it seemed a little short for power and was a stock 1500. Working on a new heart for this season. Trying to figure out the "what if" before I begin.
I am running one caster shim behind the axle now and can go with another - planning to lower front some more(currently at mid way on the saw tooth adjuster. _________________ Your Legacy should that you made it better than it was when you got it. Lee Iacocca |

The "composite" deck material body lift is mine. It has been great with zero issues since it was finished. There are plenty of pictures in my www link at the bottom of this post. You may have to look for them.
My tires are right at 29" tall. I just have a 1600 and it accelerates and cruises real well up to 60 after that it labors. Your swing axle is geared a little lower so you should be better off than I am. |

Don't forget to post pics. The stuff is fun to work with, however it makes tons of sawdust. Keep the shop vac handy. |

i have the same buggy, and i do have the moon wheels on it. i do not remember the tire sizes but my rear tires fit fine at stock height with no rubbing. i actually want to lower the rear a notch or 2. mine is on a 63 chassy. i have 2 1/2 drop spindle and a select a drop in the front. it will not rub unless i slam it all the way down. i can't figure out how to post oictures but i can email them if needed. |
