Hi-
Does anyone have or know a source for good-quality fuel pump pushrods? The ones I've seen - mail-order and at the local shop - are junk cheapies.
Thanks.

If you have a generator-type pump OE VeeDub has a german made push rod.

Nope, alternator.

Is there a chance at shortening a longer one? Is the relation of the length and the "groove" or thinned waist important?

No relation, however I would think a lathe would be best rather than just a hack saw.

I'm a machinist by day, so shortening one won't be a problem....

Brian -

I highly recommend CB Performance - their push rod and intermediate flange are awesome VW OEM.

Outstanding! I thought I went to their site already, but don't remember seeing those parts.
I'll check them out.
Thanks!

66foot - I'm curious about "packing the pump" - I've never done that, thinking that the bottom side is splashed with oil constantly. Is this a "must do"???

Yes, do it! Keeps the lever and pivot lubricated, last longer. There's really no way for oil to make its way up to that point. You should also put a bit of grease on the pushrod when you slip it down through the pump flange.

absolutely, pack it with grease... if you look at the bakelight spacer pictured above you'll see there is not passage for any splash oiling... the only splash oiling is to the tip of the pushrod that rides on the distributor drive...
