I was going to put some 5spoke polished empi's on my bus with a lower profile tire...i think around 23 inches total diameter...(its hard to tell not looking at anything). I imagine I will want to lower the bus, otherwise it will look silly. Is there any way to lower it just a little without having to swap the red. boxes and all that good stuff. Thanks for helping this rookie out. im still learning...slowly but surely...

The only way I can think to lower it "a little" is to install a Bus-Boys beam up front and lower it one notch (about 1"). This is what I have on my '65 and it looks nice. Not "dropped" but it reduced the space between the wheel and the body. On the rear you might have more of a challenge. You could move the spring plate up a notch and rotate your torsion bar clockwise one notch for minimal adjustment (1 or 2 degrees) but this might not be enought lowering. I don't recommend IRS for that nice deluxe, and straight axel would be too much (3.5 inches or more). Anyone else have a suggestion?

The actual best thing to do if you want to eliminate reduction boxes and lower your bus way easy ..is ..a 68 bug trans...it will give you a much better response when driving and no hop up from the ass end...later on

The 68 bug tranny fix is only a partial answer. You still need the spring plates and proper length axle tubes (that are not stock, custom orders only) and you need to figure out what type of rear brakes your going to use.(Please don't tell me any of you are using bug brakes on the rear).
3.5 inches is what your going to get front and rear if you use dropped spindles up front and str8 axle in the rear.
If your only going to lower your bus an inch or so, don't even bother. If you've ever tried to pull a beam before, you'll know what I mean.
Also, don't listen to those idiots who say to pull a couple of leaves in the front torsion housing. There is no longer any excuse to do that with the advent of spindles or adj. beams. If you go to a shop or have someone work on your car who says to pull leaves, LEAVE.

Ditto on the pulling the leaves, don't do it.

No diss to NAES, but I disagree about the front beam comment, I didn't find it to be all that much of a chore. No more than pulling the rear end out. However removing the center collars in the front beam that hold the torsion leaves was a pain. If you are going to do an adjustable front end, buy the entire beam and don't screw with installing your own adjusters. Save yourself the trouble. Just my two cents.

23window, no foul here, I'm just curious how you disconnected the front shift coupler without wanting to kill yourself is all. NAES
