I'm doing a stock 1600 rebuild. Are the oil control valves normally replaced or assumed good? Thanks. _________________ Don

You need to remove them when you clean the case. Make sure you know which one goes where and that they move freely in the bores when you reinstall them. _________________ Glenn

I removed and inspected them but I don't have any way to check the springs and after 35 years I'm thinking they may be a little tired? _________________ Don

I've never had a problem with used springs.
But i have had problems with the new aftermarket ones being way too stiff and causing excessive oil pressure problems.
My advice... keep the old ones. _________________ Glenn
