So I can clearify, you pulled your front leaves out? I'm not here to chastise you but that is not a safe or comfortable way to lower your bus. You won't like the ride I'm almost sure of it. Plus its hard on your bus. I recommend putting the leaves back in and getting drop spindles/adjustable beam. A friend of mine used the combo of both and his panel was slammed. Hope all goes well. |

I lowered my bus once by taking the leaves out. The ride was crappy but that didn't last too long because the arms came out of the beam while I was driving. The bus and I survived but i put the leaves back and got a busboys beam instead. |

Pulling the leaves out of the beam is pretty old school, there are some new options out there now worth checking out.As far as the rear goes you pull the torsion arm off the torsion bar and move the arm a notch or 2 the same as a type1-3.Check out BusBoys.com, they have the front beam w/ajusters and these deals called Boomerangs for the rear. |

when you said "in the past" was that the mid 80's? Times have changed bro and I wouldn't go bragging around town that you pulled leaves. Heres the scoop. Go to berg and buy the adjusters and weld em in or go to bus boys and buy their adjusters (higher quality) and weld em in. Yes you must pull the beam, yes its a pain in the ass and yes you will once again have respect from your fellow bus bretheren (brothers).
Since were on the subject they also make this thing called a "straight axle kit" that emiminates the reduction boxes. Maybe you should look into that as well so you dont have your tires at 45 degrees. That is also a look that is long gone and happily forgotten. Later, NAES |

I don't like lowered buses. Just my opinion. I'm in the process of raising back to stock height a '61 panelvan camper. It was lowered when I got it and the method used on the front was removal of leaf springs from the front beam. The ride absolutely sucked, any minor bump in the road was a bone jarring experience. Not only that, when I had to get my annual state inspection (MA), the king pins and link pins were shot because they had the shit beat out of them. I ended up buying a new front end locally and got a complete tranny, rgb's, axles and brake drums from Ronnie at Oldvolks. Lesson here is if you want to lower do it properly. Nuff said. |
