I just bought a late 1970 and an early 1970 Ghia. The early one was made 10/69 and it is the one I'm going to use to drive, the other one being a donor. Both have ratted out seats. Since I am 6'1" I was thinking of changing the seats and maybe getting more leg room. Anyone ever change the seats in a Ghia to racing seats or those from another car? Any ideas on how to install different seats? Thanks!

Most aftermarket seats use 'adaptor tracks' that slide onto the stock rails and bolt up to the seats (Scat Enterprises, Corbeau, ect. ect.)
Anyone with decent fabrication skills can make some kind of adaptor set up to mount other seats from Jap/other cars, but I have seen some less than quality ideas on most attempts. Do some research, think it out. It is a safety issue as well as just comfort.

If you are replacing the pans you will need to pull the factory seat tracks off the floor anyway. You could move the seat tracks back a few inches - thus relocating your seat further back. However, I just slid my seat to the furthest back position and reclined it a few ticks, I am also 6'1 and find it a comfortable setup.

You might want to remove your seat, and take a good long look at the tracks and study how the seat selector works. You may be able to move the 2 prong thing that locks the selector in place. Just make sure any modification is on the up and up, i.e. properly welded, sound metal, etc.
