My family and I went to an informal campout with some other VW owners this weekend. I have to say that our community is filled with some of the most genuine, down to earth people I've ever met. Thanks to everyone. We had a blast.
My wife was a little hesitant at first b/c she thought anyone who loves busses as much as me, must be a freak. By the end of the trip, she didn't want to go home. We are looking forward to the next event.
Thanks to:
Brett (Big Blue's owner)
Joe (has the sweetest pit bull in california)
Pete (master of re-upholstery) and (perfect bus man)
Melissa (Queen of the acoustic air guitar)
Regis and Kris (for putting up with our kid swinging from their pop top
Paul and wife (loves junk and garage sales as much as my wife)
Romey and Jen (Cute couple who don't really look like engineers.)
Dick (gentle hippie with a sweater wearing chihuahua)
nice couple with white adventurewagon and cute bulldog (forgot their names).
These are the types of people who make me proud to be a VW enthusiast. Thanks again
p.s. post some pics, Peter _________________ '63 Bug

Pics? Can do that. and a story. reposted here from the "other" vw forum.
Friday, I headed out mid afternoon toward Antioch/Pittsburg so I could take Hwy 160 to Sacramento. I got passed by a bunch of these:
Some of them perilously close to the ground:
I've written about hwy 160 on my blog before, it's got some great bridges:
I arrived a little late, but woke up the next morning to a few other busses, and the company of Dick's Dog Sweety:
These fine people:
Some others rolled in Saturday mid-day including this weird one:
Regis made it:
And Joe got ahold of my camera:
I got bored and recovered a seat, you know, in my spare time:
And left sunday mid-day with Brett following me:
Brett and I went looking for VW antiques in Placerville, found none, did find an excellent Tri-tip BLT sandwich for lunch, and stumbled across this:
Points to those who know what it is.
These happy people waved at me in while we were stuck in traffic outside of Vacaville.
I'll write up my fun carb experience later.
Excellent trip joe, thanks for organizing.
Next year?

We've had a few people post "I wish I knew" posts, so my plan is to just spam everyone.
I.E.
Request for Urgent Camping relationship,
First, I must solicit your strictest confidence in this transaction. This is by virtue of its nature as being utterly confidential and "top secret". I am sure and have confidence in your ability and reliability to prosecute a transaction of this great magnitude involving a pending transaction requiring maximum confidence.
We are a top official from the Sambanista government camping review panel who are interested in importation of food and alcohol into our campsite with funds that are presently trapped in nigeria.
Etc...etc...
Or Option two:
V!46rAA 4 your VW!!!! Hawt engines nearby! No fees!!!! C14l1s5s for yur Gas tank. Need to rev that engine!?!?! LOWEST price available!!
-P
(who is obviously a little punchy this morning). |
